Les Cinq Pineaux

A must-see feature of the Hilairo landscape! At the end of the Sion cliffs, in the ocean, you can see five isolated rocks that once formed a cape, but have undergone erosion to take their current shape. Two legends make up this site: they are the remains of a bridge that the devil tried to build to the Ile d’Yeu after making a pact with Saint Martin; or the 5 pineaux are five monks petrified to watch over the devil imprisoned on the ledge, in a place known as the “devil’s hole”.
